Outreach and Community Education

We are Anchor of Hope’s new Community Educators, Sue Habighorst and Carol Marksteiner. Our role is to build community relationships between Anchor of Hope and local schools, churches, and organizations.

Our goal is to champion Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (an evidence-based abstinence program) as the best approach to help middle-school and high school age students thrive now and enter adulthood equipped to achieve life success. We will do this by developing age-appropriate curriculum focused on healthy, biblical, sexual health habits and behaviors consistent with Anchor of Hope’s core values.

We look forward to the challenge of creating educational programs for our community. It is important that our youth are given the knowledge, skills, and encouragement they need to make wise and healthy decisions. We also look forward to developing programs and projects that bring parents and their children together to have healthy and meaningful conversations about difficult subjects.

Director of Client Services

Michele Fortino

Michele left the corporate world in 2016 when God intervened in her life and brought her to the saving knowledge of His Son, Jesus Christ. From the prompting and guidance of the Holy Spirit she began a new vocation of ministry in Social Services to serve the marginalized youth, adults and families within Sheboygan County. She also obtained licensure to be a Foster Mom for the county and continues to provide mentorship to the adults and juvenile youth in the community. She served as Client Advocate with Anchor Hope and on the Post Abortion Healing team having suffered herself the traumas from a late term abortion at the tender age of just turning 15.

People are Michele’s passion because all humanity is the glory of God’s image, and every human being has a beautiful story to be told. Her role at Anchor of Hope will be just that-to be an anchor meeting the client’s needs while providing a safe place where they feel valued, dignified, and empowered to make informed healthy choices for themselves as we walk alongside them in hopes of leading them to the way of life and the truth found in Jesus.

Michele lives in Sheboygan where she loves to spend time at the lake reading.

Receptionist/Client Care

SONIA Weber

Sonia Weber started serving at Anchor of Hope as a Client Advocate in mid 2020 and began her role as Receptionist/Client Care in early 2021. Finding out at 15 that she was 8 weeks pregnant brought her to a clinic where she nearly chose to have an abortion. At that appointment, she was able to hear her baby’s heartbeat and it brought her to a revelation that life had already begun for her little one. By the grace of God, she chose life for her daughter and is now able to empathize and encourage moms who find themselves in unexpected situations. She never understood why she had to go through those things, but is reminded in John 3:17, that God has used her experiences for His good and His glory. She serves using her bi-lingual skills to speak to the hearts of the Spanish clients we serve. She is a facilitator for Anchor of Hopes ‘Forgiven and Set Free’ and oversees our Post-Abortion Healing Ministries.

Receptionist

Emma Dexheimmer

Emma began volunteering at Anchor of Hope in early 2022, dedicating her time to organizing the Boutique and managing incoming donations. In the fall of 2024, she transitioned to a staff role as a receptionist, bringing her warm demeanor and dedication to the front lines of service.

Her life was deeply transformed by the Word of God during her time at Ellerslie Discipleship and Mission Society in Colorado, where she was inspired to seek ways to participate in Christ’s redemptive work. While researching local opportunities, Emma discovered Anchor of Hope and immediately felt called to join its mission.
With a deep passion for life, family, and the gospel, Emma is thrilled to serve at Anchor of Hope, where her values and calling align so beautifully. Outside of work, she enjoys quality time with her family, exploring the outdoors through hiking, immersing herself in books, studying, and expressing her creativity.

bsn, registered nurse

Alex Huenink

Alex Huenink, BSN, RN, is a lifelong Sheboygan resident, who now lives in Cedar Grove with her husband and son. She is surrounded by a supportive network of family, friends, and fellow believers. With deep roots in the area, she feels privileged to give back to the community through the impactful services provided by Anchor of Hope.

As a registered nurse with twelve years of experience in Neonatal Intensive Care and outpatient health clinics, she brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to her work. Her time in the NICU allowed her to navigate complex discussions about fetal viability, quality of life, and end-of-life care. These experiences also gave Alex the opportunity to witness extraordinary moments of hope and resilience—seeing premature babies defy medical odds and thrive against all expectations.

Her faith has been strengthened through these experiences, especially with the miraculous arrival of her son, born three months prematurely last winter. These moments have deepened her passion for advocating for the sanctity of life and continually remind her of the Lord’s ultimate authority over it.

She is excited to bring her expertise, compassion, and faith to her role at Anchor of Hope, investing in both individual lives and the broader community.
